青海波 — the blue ocean wave pattern.
One of the oldest patterns in Japanese design, on sixth-century pottery before it ever reached fabric. Overlapping concentric arcs standing for waves, and by extension for peace and good fortune arriving in an unbroken series. The name runs vertically down a clear panel through the middle.
